Maccabi Community Fun Run Indeed!

Last month, JVN told you about how we were lucky to have our very own – and first ever – runner participating at the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run which took place on Sunday 29th May (read the full interview here).

We are delighted to say that Tristan safely and happily completed the 10k run and managed to raise over £2,000 for JVN!!! Well done Tristan,we offer our thanks, gratitude and no small amount of relief that it wasn’t us that had to run! Maybe next year!

Tristan best sums up the event: “I really enjoyed the day – it brought together over 1,100 runners raising money for a range of different charities. I welcomed the chance to put on my running shoes for JVN to jog 10km, and was delighted to be able to complete the run in 52 minutes – anew personal best. With fine weather and a great crowd, it meant that the Maccabi fun run was a memorable day and raising £2,000 for JVN makes the dayall the more poignant.”

We can only echo what Tristan says. JVN took part in the charity fair, meeting lots of volunteers and colleagues from the other 30 plus charities taking part and managing to sign up a good score of new volunteers. It was the largest cross-communal charity event of the year and JVN is proud to have found around 40 volunteers through our blog, Facebook and website to support the event. Put a date in your diary now for volunteering for next years!

So thanks again to Tristan – you are truly JVN’s running star. Next year, Joanne, our Operations Manager has promised to take do the CFR. So next year, the marathon….!

If you feel like supporting JVN before then, you can donate any time at http://www.justgiving.com/jvn – even a small amount will help us continue to continue matching volunteers with volunteering opportunities – from the big projects like Maccabi Community Fun Run to regular day-to-day volunteering.

Well done Tristan!
