Another blog? You’d better believe it!

Because the last blog was so long and your eyes may be feeling a bit sore from all that reading, I’ll keep this one short. But I had to share with you 3 things:

Firstly, we have a fantastically cute remark from Jonah Marks, aged 6¾, about his grandma’s Olympic volunteering.

My grandma is a London Ambassador. She helps people at the station. She gives out maps and carries their bags.

Awww! And here’s a picture of Jonah, his brother Rafi and grandma Linda Marks:

Secondly, I have some new volunteering opportunities for you:

  1. Seeing Jewish Life Guides: The Board of Deputies, the representative body of British Jews in the United Kingdom, is looking to train volunteers to guide non-Jewish school pupils. These pupils come to London for half a day or a day as part of their learning of Judaism GCSE in Religious Education. Their programme might include visiting a synagogue, going for a kosher lunch, exploring Jewish shops, visiting a Jewish school or daycentre or hearing a testimony from a Holocaust survivor.  You don’t need to be an expert in Judaism to help out and training will be given once every three months usually on a Sunday. However you do need to feel comfortable speaking to Young People and an educational background is an advantage become available. This is a very exciting voluntary opportunity. Please contact Sara Younger at or telephone 020 7543 5409.
  2. Part-time admin support:  part time admin support required for London based Chaplain to work 10 hours a week partly from home for University Jewish Chaplaincy. Please contact Suzy Richman – T: 020 8343 5678 / 07702 403 419 | E: | W:
  3. Marshalls for fun-run: We are two friends who co-run the forCrohns charity that we set up 10 years ago age 16. This summer is our 10th annual event, 10kforCrohns in Hyde Park, London on Sunday 30 Sept. We are looking for pairs of Marshalls who would be happy to stand in the park for a couple of hours and point people in the right direction, a bit of cheering! They will be given a packed lunch and t shirt and when they are done, can join everyone for big tea and live music. Anyone wanting to apply need only email

And finally, we have our internship of the week, this week from our good selves. That’s right, JVN is looking for an intelligent, hardworking young person to take up an exciting internship in one of the central organisations in the Anglo-Jewish non-for-profit community. To view the full opportunity, click here.

Shana tovah u’metukah to every single one of our blog readers! Wishing you a happy a sweet new year,

The JVN team.
