difficult decisions to make in order to select the winners. However, there was no disputing the Long Service Award that was presented to Mayer Hersh and the Young Volunteer of the Year Award that was presented to Yehudah Fletcher. The Awards were presented by Frank Baigel, President of the Representative Council, Susan Winton, JVN Chairman, Laura Marks, Senior Vice President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, and Cllr. Anthony O’Neill, Deputy Mayor of Stockport.

JVN has made new friends through these Awards and we hope to have increased our presence in the region.

Es Rosen, JVN’s Regional Development Manager, manager was delighted to see the positive benefits that were achieved for the community when strong partnerships were formed with the Representative Council, the Jewish Telegraph and JVN all working together to celebrate volunteering. The results of this were clearly identifiable with so many volunteers being present at this impressive occasion which honoured their tremendous dedication and commitment to so many worthy causes. He said, “This event provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase the considerable cross communal strength of all those organisations working for the community and which the whole of the Manchester Jewish Community can take immense pride from.”
